Former Food Network Host Arrested for Trying to Get Homeless to Commit Murder

Yikes! Juan Carlos Cruz, the host of the former Food Network show Calorie Commando (don't think it even makes it into reruns anymore... and will definitely pulled now), was arrested on Thursday in Santa Monica, California for soliciting homeless people to commit murder!

"On Friday May 7th, police officers were contacted by homeless individuals who said the suspect solicited them to commit murder. The homeless people agreed to help officers in an investigation, in which Cruz revealed to officers the murder-for-hire method, where and when the individual was to be killed, and the terms of payment."

Cruz is currently being held on $5 million bail.

UPDATE: TMZ is reporting Cruz was attempting to get his wife killed. They have video posted of the homeless people Cruz allegedly solicited.

That's so crazy. But, that's what I deal with on a daily basis at work. Crazy

very sad situation.

On an unrelated note, Paula Deen will be one of the judges at the Miss USA pageant being televised tonight (16 May) at 7PM EDT on NBC.

The last thing I can imagine is Paula Deen judging a beauty contest - she'll probably think all the girls are too skinny and try to get them to eat some of her gooey butter cake or Krispy Kreme bread pudding.

Paula Deen as a judge of Miss USA ?

If that doesn't say these contests are stupid and ridiculous, I don't know what else does.
Pretty sad.

This guy sounds like he's got real trouble, but I sometimes wonder if FN is so desperate for people that they don't really check people out too well. Remember JAG or whatever his name is - - the one who lied about his credentials to get on Next Foodwork Star? Or how about Robert Irvine? Another good example of inept and totally lacking in host power is Claire Robinson on Foodnetwork Challenge. Not only has she no personality, but her choice in dresses is one step above bimbo. Give us a break FN, investigate before you inflict some of these people on us.
